POS payments were disconnected in 2023 — how do you restore them?+
The card rail Intuit removed was their own processing contract, not the software. Stripe Terminal is a separate, modern payment rail — the agent hands the sale amount to a Terminal reader and posts the result back into POS when the charge completes.
What did Shopify's migration actually keep?+
Lists, not history — customers, vendors, items and locations transfer, but sales receipts, invoices, sales orders, purchase orders, receiving vouchers, store credit, loyalty and product images don't. If history matters to you, it dies on the switch unless you preserve it first.
Is QuickBooks POS still safe to run?+
It's unsupported but functional — the risk profile is the same as any unpatched desktop app: keep it backed up, keep the machine current, segment it if you can. The agent's backup, health monitoring and encrypted offsite copies cover the continuity side; we also snapshot before anything touches the file.
Can I migrate to Shopify later anyway?+
Yes — the backup and cloud copy exist independently, so a later migration happens from a position of safety, not urgency. Your historical data travels as an exportable SQLite archive, whatever you move to.
