3dcart (Shift4Shop) ↔ Sage 200 Integration
3dcart / Shift4ShopE-commerceOrders into SOP, stock out to the store — the Sage 200 bridge for shops still on 3dcart/Shift4Shop.
3dcart — now Shift4Shop — is a hosted e-commerce platform still running a meaningful number of UK stores. The integration pattern is the standard e-commerce loop: web orders pull into Sage 200 as SOP entries with correct tax and shipping treatment, Sage stock and prices push out so the store can't sell what isn't there, and despatch/tracking flows back so customers get 'shipped' emails. Where 3dcart differs from the big-name platforms is its API surface and extension ecosystem — less off-the-shelf middleware coverage, which is why most Sage–3dcart links end up bespoke. The pitfalls are familiar: payment-settled vs order-placed states, bundled products that explode into component SKUs in Sage, and shipping methods that need to map to real courier services.
Data Flows
- 1
Orders → SOP
Paid 3dcart/Shift4Shop orders import to Sage 200 SOP — customer matched or created under a web umbrella account, lines mapped by SKU, shipping as a proper charge line, payment status driving whether the order allocates or holds.
- 2
Stock → store
Free stock minus allocations feeds the store's sellable quantity on a schedule; backorderable lines get their own handling so you don't oversell or unnecessarily show zero.
- 3
Prices → store
Sell prices (standard or a designated web price band) push out — so Sage remains the price master and a price change in Sage updates the storefront without a separate login.
- 4
Despatch → tracking
Sage despatch with courier tracking writes back to the 3dcart order, triggering the platform's shipped notification and keeping the customer self-served.
Where These Integrations Go Wrong
The failure modes we design around — most 3dcart / Shift4Shop ↔ Sage projects hit at least two of these.
Unpaid orders shouldn't allocate stock
3dcart orders can exist in pending/payment-review states. Import only settled orders (or import pending as non-allocating) — otherwise fraud-filtered carts reserve real stock.
Bundles and kits
A 3dcart bundle is one SKU at the cart but several stock items in Sage. The import has to explode bundles via Sage's built-for-stock kit structure, or decrement the right component SKUs explicitly — pick one model and enforce it.
Shipping methods are data, not text
The store's 'Standard 3-5 day' must map to a Sage delivery method and (if used) a courier service code. Free-text shipping names break downstream despatch automation.
Platform rename, API continuity
3dcart → Shift4Shop renamed the platform and pushed its payment processor. Stores migrated to Shift4 payments change the payment-state signals — the integration must read order state, not assume it.

Who It's For
Sage 200 businesses still trading on 3dcart/Shift4Shop who type web orders into Sage (or don't, and reconcile at month-end instead). Also for stores weighing a platform migration — the integration keeps you accurate while the migration decision plays out.
FAQ
3dcart vs Shift4Shop — same integration?
Effectively yes — Shift4Shop is 3dcart rebranded after the Shift4 acquisition. The API surface is the same lineage; the main change is payments. If you're searching '3dcart sage integration' on a Shift4Shop store, this is the right page.
Should we integrate or migrate?
Honest answer: if the store works and order volume doesn't justify a rebuild, integrate — a Sage bridge is far cheaper than a re-platform. If you're already planning a move to Shopify/WooCommerce, a throwaway integration may not pay back. We'll tell you which side of that line you're on.
How do returns/refunds flow back?
Refunds processed in the store create Sage returns/credit notes against the original SOP where we can match them; unmatched cases go to a review queue rather than auto-crediting the wrong order.
