Magento / Adobe Commerce ↔ Sage 200 Integration
Magento / Adobe CommerceEcommerce platformMagento (Adobe Commerce) syncs orders, stock/prices and advanced customer pricing to Sage 200 — linking commerce complexity to ERP simplicity.
Magento / Adobe Commerce is the enterprise e-commerce platform that handles the storefront, checkout, product catalogs and customer experience. Sage 200 is the financial ERP that owns stock, orders and customer relationships. The integration joins them: real-time stock and price sync prevents overselling, customer groups and tier pricing carry through from Magento, and every web order lands in Sage 200 as SOP with the right analysis codes, payment state and delivery details. Where Magento shines in the front-end experience, Sage 200 owns the back-office reality — we build the bridge so each system can trust what the other knows. The focus is on high-volume, multi-site, B2B pricing complexity that no manual hand-off can sustain.
Data Flows
- 1
Orders → SOP
Paid Magento orders import to Sage 200 SOP with customer matched from Magento customer groups, lines mapped by SKU, shipping treatment per website/store and payment-state gating (authorize before stock allocation). Orders land with full analysis codes (website, store, payment term) for later reporting.
- 2
Stock & prices → Magento
Sage 200 stock levels (minus allocations, minus safety buffers per warehouse) push to Magento live or in scheduled batches, ensuring the storefront never promises unavailable inventory. Unit prices, cost prices and tier pricing sync back — so Magento offers customer-specific pricing that matches what Sage quotes.
- 3
Customer pricing tiers
Magento customer groups (Retailer A, Distributor B, etc.) map to Sage 200 customer price bands and negotiated prices per account. The pricing layer lives in Sage 200 (where the business rules live) and is exposed to Magento via an API, so no price changes happen in two places.
- 4
Multi-website/store mapping
A Magento store (website) and store view (language/timezone) map to Sage 200 analysis codes and delivery methods, so reporting stays clean across channels. Orders inherit the right analysis codes, and fulfilment staff can sort by store without opening Magento.
- 5
MSI multi-source inventory
Multi-source inventory (MSI) in Magento is reconciled with Sage 200 warehouse locations — each warehouse in Sage maps to a Magento inventory source. Allocations flow from Magento to Sage, stock levels sync out, and returns/reversals update both sides.
Where These Integrations Go Wrong
The failure modes we design around — most Magento / Adobe Commerce ↔ Sage projects hit at least two of these.
Pricing rule complexity
Magento’s catalog rules, product price rules and customer group pricing don’t always map cleanly to Sage 200’s price band precedence (customer price > band price > standard price). We need a full test matrix of representative customers before go-live, or web prices diverge from trade prices — the single biggest B2B-trust killer.
Large catalog performance
Magento catalogs with 10k+ SKUs slow the stock/price sync if we pull/push every item. We limit sync to changed records only, use batch APIs where available and cache at the edge — but Sage 200 reports need the full picture, so we keep full delta snapshots nightly.
Website/store mapping drift
Magento stores can be added/updated without Sage analysis codes, and vice versa. The mapping table needs an owner (usually the ecommerce admin) who reviews changes monthly. A missing mapping causes silent order routing or lost reporting.
Returns reconciliation across systems
A Magento refund generates a credit memo, which needs a matching Sage 200 credit note and stock reversal. The two-way flow needs careful orchestration: Magento captures the refund state, Sage posts the credit, and a final reconciliation report flags mismatches.
What's Included
- SOP order import from Magento with customer/tier pricing carry-through
- Two-way stock and price sync (real-time or scheduled based on catalogue size)
- Customer price band mapping exposed to Magento (no price duplication)
- Multi-website/store → Sage analysis code mapping table, editable without code
- MSI multi-source inventory reconciliation per warehouse
- UAT on a Magento dev instance against a Sage 200 test company with real catalogue volume
Who It's For
Sage 200 users running Magento (Adobe Commerce) as their primary storefront — typically B2B distributors and manufacturers with complex customer pricing, multi-website presence and multi-warehouse operations where the e-commerce front-end needs to mirror the ERP’s complexity. Also for enterprises evaluating Magento as their e-commerce platform and wanting a full, tested integration blueprint before committing to a re-platform.
FAQ
Does this work with older Magento versions (1.x/2.x) or only Adobe Commerce (2.4+)?
The integration builds against Magento’s REST APIs and WebAPI. Magento 1.x is unsupported and has security EOL. For 2.x stores, we scope against the 2.4.x release used by your migration partner — the API surface is stable, but newer feature releases (e.g. GraphQL, headless commerce) may need extra work. We test against the live catalog you use in production.
Can this integration drive customer-specific pricing from Sage or does it only pull from Magento?
Both directions — Sage 200 is the price master. Customer price bands, negotiated prices and quantity breaks live in Sage 200. We expose that layer to Magento so Magento never holds pricing that diverges from what Sage quotes. If you want a separate Magento price master (for marketing promotions), that sits on top of the Sage layer, not in conflict with it.
What about multi-channel — Amazon, eBay, web stores together?
Amazon and eBay need separate connectors (eSellerPro, multi-channel order management). They can either be separate Magento websites (easier) or a single Magento installation with marketplace extensions. The Sage side is the same: all orders land as SOP, just with different analysis codes for channel tracking. The Magento ↔ Sage integration focuses on the Magento website itself; marketplace orders go through their dedicated connectors.
