SparkLayer ↔ Sage 200 Integration
SparkLayerB2B ecommerceB2B portal ordering with Sage 200 price lists, credit limits and quoted pricing — Shopify gets the enterprise layer.
SparkLayer is the B2B ordering layer that lives on top of Shopify and similar storefronts: customers see their own price bands, credit limits and quoted pricing live from Sage 200, and orders write back as live Sage 200 records. The challenge is bridging Shopify's B2C front-end with Sage's B2B complexity — price bands, trade counters, negotiated prices, quantity breaks and credit limits all need to surface into the store's quote engine, while Shopify's order flow has to route to the right Sage 200 entity, check credit before booking and store the commercial result. We build the Sage-side layer that powers that flow: price look-up on every product, credit check before quote lock, and order writeback that lands as either SOP or a special B2B order type.
Data Flows
- 1
Pricing → quote
Sage 200 customer price bands, negotiated prices and quantity breaks are published to SparkLayer's quote engine — live, per-customer, per-product. Shopify collects the quote as a stubbed order while pricing remains bound to the Sage customer account.
- 2
Credit limits → block
Customer credit limits pull from Sage 200 and surface at quote lock. If the quote would exceed the limit, the flow blocks and requests manager override — so Shopify never promises what the customer can't pay.
- 3
Quotes → SOP
Accepted quotes land in Sage 200 as SOP entries with B2B analysis codes — tracking the original quote, customer pricing tier and credit-override status so downstream finance sees the commercial context.

Documents & history
Invoices, statements and order status flow back to SparkLayer's B2B portal — Sage stays the ledger of record, the web is a window onto it for approved customers.
Where These Integrations Go Wrong
The failure modes we design around — most SparkLayer ↔ Sage projects hit at least two of these.
Price-band precedence logic
Sage's precedence rules (customer price > price band > standard sell price, plus quantity breaks and specials) must mirror exactly what the store promises — a single mismatch kills B2B trust and drives customers back to phone orders.
Credit limits drift
Credit limits change in Sage (payment terms, limit adjustments, cash-with-order status) — the sync has to be frequent enough that the store doesn't accept orders that should be blocked or approve orders the customer can't pay.
Quote-to-SOP conversion
B2B customers expect "pending" vs "booked" states; finance needs the commercial terms (quoted price vs committed price); inventory needs the order to count against stock only after SOP confirmation. Mapping quote states to Sage order states is complex.
Multi-currency B2B markets
If you sell across regions with different tax treatments and currencies, SparkLayer's quote engine has to honour both the Sage currency rate and any region-specific pricing rules — not a simple extension of the C2C flow.
What's Included
- Customer price bands and negotiated pricing exposed to the B2B store
- Live Sage 200 credit limits enforced at quote lock with override workflow
- Quote-to-SOP flow with B2B analysis codes for downstream reporting
- Invoice and order status publication back to the customer portal
- Multi-region pricing/currency support with per-customer rules
- UAT with representative customer profiles across your credit tiers
Who It's For
Sage 200 users adding B2B selling via Shopify (or similar storefronts) where the commercial logic is complex: customer-specific pricing, credit terms and quote-based ordering don't fit Shopify's built-in tools. Also for distributors or manufacturers whose B2B buyers expect the same pricing accuracy they get on the trade counter — but want the convenience of web ordering.
FAQ
Doesn't Shopify have B2B apps?
Shopify's native B2B apps focus on storefront markup and cart management; they don't surface the Sage 200 data model (price bands, credit limits, trade counters). This integration builds the Sage-side layer that powers B2B ordering, while you can use any storefront that can read live pricing and enforce credit checks.
What happens when a customer exceeds their credit limit?
The quote engine blocks checkout, showing the excess amount and offering manager override. Once approved, the credit limit is reserved for that quote — if the order doesn't convert to SOP within the quote expiry, the limit is released for other customers.
Can we migrate existing customer pricing from Excel?
Yes — we can bulk-load customer price bands and credit limits from Excel/CSV into Sage 200, then let SparkLayer surface that live data. Alternatively, we build import screens inside Sage so your pricing team can manage the master data without touching Shopify.
