Sage Migration
Moving off Sage — or onto it — without losing your ledger. We extract, map, validate and parallel-run until the numbers tie exactly. Sage ↔ Xero, QuickBooks and bespoke systems.
Plan Your MigrationData Extraction
Full extraction from Sage 50 (ODBC/SDO) or Sage 200 (SQL) — customers, suppliers, nominals, transactions, stock, price lists.
Mapping & Transform
Sage's structure mapped to the target — tax codes, nominal accounts, cost centres, contact hierarchies. Documented, reviewable.
Validation
Post-import reconciliation against Sage's own trial balance and key reports — the numbers must tie before go-live, not after.
History Options
Opening balances only, YTD, or full transaction history — costed separately so you choose what history is actually worth.
Parallel Running
Both systems live until you're confident — nothing switches until reconciliation is clean for a full reporting period.
To Bespoke Systems
Migrating onto custom software? We build the target too — schema designed around your data, not squeezed into a template.
How a Migration Runs
Data audit (free)
We assess your Sage version, data volume, custom fields and what needs to move — then quote per package of work.
Mapping document
Every entity's field-level mapping written down and signed off — no silent assumptions about tax codes or nominals.
Test migration
Full run into a sandbox of the target system, reconciled against Sage reports. Errors fixed before the real cutover.
Cutover + parallel run
Live migration at a period boundary, then both systems run until a clean reconciliation — typically one VAT period.
Sage Migration FAQ
Can you migrate Sage 50 to Xero or QuickBooks?+
Yes — the common path: extract opening balances, customer/supplier records, transaction history and stock from Sage 50, map to the target's structure, import, then validate totals against Sage's own trial balance. History depth is your choice — full history or closing-balance cutover.
We're moving TO Sage from another system — can you help?+
Yes, same process in reverse — extract from your current accounts system (Xero, QuickBooks, bespoke, spreadsheets), map to Sage's import formats or post directly via the appropriate interface.
How much history can be migrated?+
Technically all of it — but most businesses migrate open items + YTD balances and archive the rest as read-only extracts. Full history doubles cost for data nobody queries; we'll advise honestly.
Can you migrate to a bespoke system?+
That's where we differ from accountants doing migrations — we build the target too. Custom ledgers, industry-specific systems, or migration onto software we've built for you.
How long does a migration take?+
Simple Sage 50 → Xero: 1–2 weeks including validation. Sage 200 with multi-company/history: 3–6 weeks. We parallel-run until you're confident — nothing switches until the numbers tie.
