Does the landlord have to prorate?
In the UK, rent is usually charged per calendar month — a mid-month move normally means paying for the whole first month unless negotiated. In the US, prorating is standard.
Which days count?
Count from the day you get keys to month-end, inclusive. February changes the daily rate — same monthly rent, fewer days.
